Gifts could speak volumes

Andrew Carnegie, using some of his wealth, built libraries around the country, and we have some of those buildings yet in Spokane.

There were so many that spent a lot of money in the last election and perhaps some of those in Spokane could also give gifts to our library to help people who are unable to afford books.

Maybe it has to be many who contribute. Some of us from the ’30s and ’40s remember when books were a luxury and it was good that a previous generation who loved books helped to have books available in our libraries.

I am glad to see some who are trying to keep the East Side Library open and hope many come together on this important issue.
