Three more ski resorts to open on Friday

Three more ski areas - Schweitzer, Mount Spokane and Silver Mountain - are planning to open on Friday. They will join Lookout Pass and 49 Degrees North, which started their seasons Friday and Saturday, respectively. The ski areas received another 4 to 5 inches of snow Sunday night and Monday morning, allowing for the early openings in time for holiday weekend recreation. Silver Mountain was reporting 21 inches of snow on Kellogg Peak and 12 inches at mid-mountain as of this morning. Schweitzer snow depths ranged from 16 inches in the village to over 40 inches on the top of Schweitzer Peak. Mt. Spokane reported 20 inches at the lodge and 30 inches at its summit. “We’re opening Friday for sure,” said Brad McQuarrie, general manager at Mt. Spokane. “We’re full on.” After being open for the weekend, Lookout and 49 Degrees North will reopen on Thanksgiving Day.
