3 Wash. food banks benefit from vitamin settlement

Associated Press
SEATTLE — Three food bank programs will be splitting $570,000 from the state just in time for Thanksgiving. Attorney General Rob McKenna said today that he is sending checks to Northwest Harvest, Food Lifeline and Second Harvest. The money comes from a $25 million multistate settlement with vitamin companies that worked together to fix prices on vitamins between 1988 and 2000. McKenna and 21 other attorneys general reached the settlement last December, but the money was just recently released to the states.
