Weather keeps some schools closed today

The Coeur d’Alene Kellogg and St. Maries school districts will be closed today due to expected extreme cold, the districts announced earlier. In Eastern Washington, Columbia School District is among the closures, while Liberty School District is expected to open on time. Check current school announcements. The National Weather Service in Spokane said it expects the low tonight to dip to minus-9 in Coeur d’Alene. Wednesday’s high will reach 9 in the Lake City, and it will be down around zero Wednesday night, the agency said. Many other school districts previously scheduled to be closed Wednesday, for teacher training or as furlough days to save money.
