In brief: Girl Scouts plan holiday tea Dec. 12

SPOKANE VALLEY – The girls of Girl Scout Troop 2678 will celebrate the holidays with a “Christmas Tea,” from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., on Dec. 12 at Intersection Church, 905 N. McDonald Road.

The troop plans to use funds raised at the tea to buy Christmas gifts for Toys for Tots. The remaining money will be used for a troop outing.

Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the tea.

TAC to perform ‘Mermaid’

SPOKANE VALLEY – Theatre Arts for Children will perform “The Little Mermaid,” beginning Dec. 3 in the Spokane Valley Partners building, 10814 E. Broadway Ave.

The musical, based on the Hans Christian Andersen classic tale, is about the mermaid Anemone and her friends, curious about life above the sea.

Other performances include Dec. 4 at 4 and 7 p.m.; Dec. 9-10 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 11 at 4 and 7 p.m.; Dec. 16-17 at 7 p.m.; and Dec. 18 at 4 and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 per person and $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Perrigos honored by dance council

SPOKANE COUNTY – Ed and Sharon Perrigo, of Spokane, recently received the 2010 Hall of Fame award from the Spokane Area Council of Square and Folk Dancers.

The couple have been members of several area dance groups and served these groups as officers. In 1989 they joined the Dancing Shadows. They have organized the club campout for seven years; and have been a trustee to the Western Dance Association for four years.

In the Western Dance Association, the Perrigos served as president and treasurer for one year. And, they have attended eight Washington State Square Dance festivals.

Neptune Society collecting toys

SPOKANE – The Neptune Society of Washington will share in the holiday spirit this Christmas and join the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to collect gifts for children.

The Neptune Society’s Spokane office is at 222 E. Francis Ave. It will collect new, unwrapped toys to donate to Toys for Tots.
