Advent preparations begin

With one holiday gone, Spokane Valley churches are beginning to prepare for the next as the season of Advent that precedes Christmas begins.

• The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene will host a Christmas Tea next Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church, 15515 E. 20th. Door prizes will be awarded. An open house will precede the tea from 12:15 to 1 p.m. The cost of the event is $10. Call the church office at 926-1545 for reservation.

• Opportunity Presbyterian Church will decorate for the season during a Hanging of the Greens event today beginning at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come and help decorate and then enjoy a potluck lunch. The church is located at 202 N. Pines Road.

Concert

Spokane native Luke Yates will perform in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Dishman Baptist Church, 315 N. Argonne Road. He currently sings lead vocal and plays piano for the southern gospel singing group “The Blackwood Legacy.” The performance is free and all are welcome to attend.
