Man’s body pulled from Spokane River

The body of a man who appears to be about 30 years old was pulled from the Spokane River this morning. Riverfront Park security spotted the body just north of the gondolas about 9:35 a.m. and called police, said Officer Tim Moses. The body showed no obvious signs of trauma and did not appear to be in the water long, but Moses said the cold temperature could be a factor. The man had no identification. “Right now we’re at a loss. Detectives are working on it,” Moses said. “We’ll know the cause of death and a few more definitive answers once the autopsy is complete.” Police closed the west side of the park as they removed the body. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy Monday.
