Optimistic Minnesota Twins slugger Justin Morneau said on Saturday that he is feeling better every day as he recovers from a concussion that caused him to miss the last three months of the season and is sure he will be ready to go once spring training begins in February. Morneau was injured on July 7 while sliding into second base in Toronto. What was initially believed to be a minor injury ended up keeping him out for the remainder of the season.

Resigned Vanderbilt head football coach Robbie Caldwell resigned as Vanderbilt’s head football coach before the Commodores concluded their season with a 34-13 loss to Wake Forest in Nashville, Tenn. The Commodores were 2-10 in Caldwell’s only season as head coach.

Interested Everton manager David Moyes is interested in bringing David Beckham back to England, but the former Manchester United midfielder has reservations about joining another Premier League club. The Los Angeles Galaxy have said Beckham won’t be able to go on loan during the Major League Soccer offseason after he was injured in March while playing for AC Milan. Beckham will be entering the final season of his five-year contract with the Galaxy when the American season starts in March, so he could be available to sign in January 2012. “I think it’s always nice to be wanted and it’s always nice to have options out there and I’ve always respected David Moyes from the time I’ve played with him at Preston North End,” Beckham said. “It’s always nice to be wanted, but I’m a Man United fan and it’s a pretty close rivalry so, I don’t know.”

Returned Golden State Warriors forward David Lee was activated after missing eight games with a staph infection in his left elbow. Lee started and scored 10 points for the Warriors in a 104-94 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. Lee leads the team with 11.3 rebounds per game and is averaging 14.3 points.

Celebrated Thousands of fans cheered the return of Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel to Berlin. The 23-year-old German celebrated his victory by driving in front of the capital’s landmark Brandenburg Gate. Organizers said about 85,000 people turned out to greet Vettel despite freezing temperatures. Vettel won the title on Nov. 14 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
