In brief: Property dispute ends in fatal shooting

RIDDLE, Ore. – The Douglas County sheriff’s office says a property line dispute between neighbors in a rural area near Riddle led to a fatal shooting.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired Wednesday afternoon about 12 miles west of Riddle.

The suspect surrendered and told officers where to find the body. Fifty-two-year-old Anthony McOwen was jailed for investigation of murder.

Sheriff John Hanlin says the neighbors had been involved in a dispute for some time and officers had been called to the scene in the past.

One man lived in a converted bus and the other man in a camper.

King County Jail has had three suicides in a month

SEATTLE – A suicide at the King County Jail in Seattle is the third one in about a month.

The county says the 33-year-old Ryan Robertson of Seattle was found hanging in his cell Sept. 20 and died Tuesday at a hospital. He had been jailed for investigation of robbery.

The Seattle P-I.com reports two other King County Jail inmates killed themselves on Sept. 13 and Aug. 16.
