UCLA handles WSU

Dicey McGraw and Bojana Todorovic combined for 24 kills and just four attack errors as No. 12 UCLA (11-2, 1-1) handled Washington State (6-7, 0-3) 25-17, 25-16, 25-17 in Pac-10 play Friday in Pullman.

Meagan Ganzer had 11 kills for the Cougars in the loss, but as a team WSU recorded an attack percentage of just .057 against the Bruins.

• Kaimi Rocha tallied a career-high 27 kills on 42 total attacks and Whitworth (7-5, 4-1) rolled against Northwest Conference foe Pacific (1-12, 0-5) 3-1 in Forest Grove, Ore. Amanda Grumbach added 11 kills and six service aces for the Pirates.

Rocha broke her previous career high of 23, which she set Sept. 18 against Puget Sound.

• Becky Perry had 20 kills and Bianca Rowland added 17 kills and seven blocks and No. 10 Washington (13-1, 2-1) came out of a freefall to beat No. 5 USC (12-0, 1-1) 3-2 in Pac-10 play in Seattle.

After winning the first two games, the Huskies dropped the third and fourth games to knot the match at 2-2. Game 5 was all UW, though, with the Huskies scoring the final five points to win 15-5.

• Janelle Currey had 18 kills and Eryn Kirby added 17 as Sacramento State (8-10, 1-2) knocked off Eastern Washington (3-11, 2-3) 25-14, 25-27, 25-17, 25-22 in Big Sky action in Sacramento.

Chenoa Coviare had 15 kills and 11 blocks for the Eagles.

• Tina Strahinic recorded a match-high 20 kills and Gabriella Risilato added 32 assists and two aces as North Idaho (15-5, 2-0) edged Eastern Utah (5-10, 0-3) 3-2 in Price, Utah. EUC won games three and four to draw even, but fell 15-8 to the Cardinals in the final game.

• Sasha Mitchell led with seven kills and Brigitte Lowe added six kills, five digs and four blocks as Community Colleges of Spokane (19-4, 5-1) swept Treasure Valley CC (11-13, 1-4) 25-23, 25-6, 25-11 in NWAACC play at Spokane Falls.

Men’s soccer

Eric Masch scored the tying goal in the 69th minute and Santa Clara (4-4-1, 1-0) added two more goals before the end of regulation to beat Gonzaga (3-6, 0-2) 3-1 in West Coast Conference play in Spokane. Colin Flynn scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal in the 13th minute.

Women’s soccer

Eileen Maes registered a hat trick with three second-half goals and Washington State (5-6) blanked Gonzaga (4-7-1) 4-0 in nonconference play to win its third consecutive match in Pullman.

Football

The Spokane Shock announced the signing of former Milwaukee Iron and UCLA Bruins wide receiver Marcus Everett to its 2011 roster. As a rookie for the Iron last season, Everett was moved to linebacker where he recorded 29 tackles and three interceptions. Two of his interceptions were returned for TDs.

Hockey

Brad Friedrich and Brooks Christiansen gave Revelstoke (8-0) an early 2-0 lead and the Spokane Braves (3-6) could not recover, falling 5-2 in KIJHL play at Eagles Ice-A-Rena.
