Privatize liquor sales
This November, Initiative 1105 gives voters a chance to help move Washington out of the post-Prohibition era and into the 21st century. The state would have you believe that only they can intelligently manage the sale of alcoholic beverages and they will fabricate any imaginable malady in order to maintain control.
They will want you to believe that by having private businesses in the liquor business, underage consumers will have easier access to alcohol. They will want you to believe that DUIs will increase. I say, “show me some verifiable statistics.”
The truth is that it doesn’t matter where the liquor is sold. If young people are going to get alcohol, they are going to get it from an adult that has purchased it for them. State-run liquor stores do nothing to control that. They may sell the liquor to adults, but they have absolutely no control over what that adult does with the liquor.
Vote yes on Initiative 1105. In addition to eliminating an antiquated 77-year-old repressive system, the state will actually come out ahead by not having to run and maintain its own liquor stores and employees.
