Children’s welfare job 1

Once again there were not one but two articles in this morning’s paper (Sept. 30) regarding mothers leaving their children alone with the mother’s current boyfriend, only to find upon their return home some hours later that the children, who were to be cared for by these men, have been abused and/or killed. The all-too-common allegations are that it was the boyfriend who committed these heinous acts. While these are only allegations at this point, history has shown that those allegations are almost always borne out as the case makes its way through the justice system.

Mothers, these children count on you to keep them safe. Be smart. Stop trusting your children with men you are dating. You may be able to take care of yourself with these losers, but helpless children cannot.

Thomas Carlyle said: “Do the duty which lies nearest to you.” Your children are your first priority and if that requires you to sacrifice parts of your own life and short-term happiness for the betterment of your children, so be it. Stop worrying about having a man in your life and start putting the health, welfare and safety of your children first. Their lives depend on it.
