Your week

Chicken breasts get a nice crunch from pecans. Adding the topping to boneless, skinless chicken helps keep it juicy. Serve with broccoli and bow-tie pasta. (McClatchy-Tribune)

YOUR HEALTH

Want to eat healthy, but you’re in a hurry?

Frozen meals can be a good choice if you pay attention to what you’re eating, dietitians say. Look for entrees with fewer than 400 calories and no more than 30 percent of those calories from fat. Keep saturated fat at less than six grams and sodium under 600 milligrams, and aim for three to five grams of fiber, seven or more grams of protein and less than 15 grams of total sugars.

Entrees from Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones or Healthy Choice often are your smartest options – although you still need to check labels.

YOUR HOME

When it comes to heating up those frozen dinners, if the interior floor of your microwave oven is eroded and rusty, you don’t have to toss it – so long as you’re willing spend some money and some time to fix it.

First, sand the damaged area down to the surface. Thoroughly clean the entire interior with soap and water until there is no oil residue remaining, so the new paint will stick (try Dawn dishwashing soap).

Then tape up the surrounding areas of the microwave before priming and painting with FDA-approved primer and paint that don’t contain any lead or other metals.

YOUR FOOD

If you’ve got some time to spend in the kitchen, try sprucing up skinless, boneless chicken breasts with a crunchy pecan topping. Round out the meal with a healthy broccoli-pasta side dish. For the recipe, see page C3.
