Infant hospitalized; mom’s boyfriend charged
A 5-month-old boy is in critical condition after his mother’s 21-year-old boyfriend assaulted him early Monday, according to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy was rushed to Pullman Memorial Hospital after crews found him unresponsive in a home in the 400 block of North Main Street in Albion, Sheriff Brett Myers said. He was later airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
Nathan J. Cranfield was arrested on a first-degree assault charge. Investigators believe he shook the boy, who reportedly was not breathing about 2 a.m.
Cranfield was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
