Higher air pressure brings two warm days

Higher air pressure has settled over the Pacific Northwest this morning bringing a broad area of warmer weather reminiscent of weeks gone by. Temperatures should climb into the middle and upper 60s both today and Thursday with lows at night in the lower 40s. But the ridge of high pressure will slowly migrate to the east, opening the door to a potentially windy cold front on Friday. National Weather Service forecasters said a strong low pressure system is moving toward the Pacific coast, and promises to bring a 10-degree cool down over the weekend. Forecasters said they believe wind gusts will peak about 24 mph on Friday. Behind Friday’s front, weather will improve with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s to about 60 through Tuesday, and possibly beyond that, forecasters said. A risk of frost returns on Saturday night with a forecasted low of 35 in downtown Spokane. At 7 a.m., it was 39 at Spokane International Airport and at Felts Field, 37 in Deer Park and Coeur d’Alene and 46 in Pullman.
