Coeur d’Alene Resort Holiday Variety Show – Musicians, jugglers, acrobats, magicians and performers of all kinds are welcome to audition Oct. 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Oct. 24, 5-8 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Resort, 115 S. Malidoma World Drumming Classes – West African Drumming: Explore this powerful style and play traditional rhythms on an African djembe drum. The history of each rhythm is covered as well. Thursdays, today through Dec. 2, 6 p.m. Middle Eastern Drumming: Experience the beautiful drums of the Middle East and learn to play ancient rhythms. Greencastle Soap Making Classes – Advanced Soap Making: Explore the world of soap and color, learn what works from the kitchen, how to make swirled bars, and how to calculate your own soap recipes as well as discuss goat’s milk soap and pigments versus dyes. Prerequisite: Beginning Soap Making. Oct. 26-27, 7-9 p.m., $55 (includes materials). Beginning Soap Making: Hands-on class teaches the basics of cold process. Participants design their own fragrance and take home more than 2 pounds of soap. Nov. 10-11, 7-9 p.m.; or Nov. 12, 7-9 p.m., and Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-noon. Fun With the Brush – Sumi-e (Asian style painting in watercolor) and Japanese calligraphy (writing) classes. Six-week sessions begin Oct. 28. One Act Play Festival – Pend Oreille Players Association is seeking original one-act plays for the 2011 festival. Open to all genres and ages; no previous playwriting experience or past production history is required.
