Vandals post sweep on road

Jennifer Feicht had her team-leading fifth double-double of the season (36 assists, 14 digs) Thursday as Idaho topped Louisiana Tech 25-22, 25-17, 26-24 in Western Athletic Conference volleyball at Ruston, La.

Kelsey Taylor, Allison Walker and Alicia Milo combined for 36 kills for the Vandals (10-9, 5-3). Kara Jones had a match-best 14 kills for the Lady Techsters (10-11, 0-6).

• Lilla Frederick hit .400 while compiling 17 kills as Pepperdine topped Gonzaga 25-19, 25-16, 25-12 in West Coast Conference play at Malibu, Calif.

Emily Cook added 12 kills and hit .455 for the Waves (13-5, 4-0). Stevi Robinson had a match-high 20 digs.

Kelsey Bashaw, Jessie Genger and Kylie Edinger combined for 19 kills for the Bulldogs (2-19, 0-5), who dropped their 17th consecutive match.

Gonzaga jumped ahead 8-2 in the first game, but Pepperdine responded with an 18-8 run after a timeout.

The Waves dashed ahead 9-4 in the second game and held GU to .026 hitting in the third game.

Arena football

The Spokane Shock added offensive lineman Van Nelson to their roster.

Nelson (6-foot-5, 350 pounds) spent last season with the AFL’s Dallas Vigilantes. He has also played for the Philadelphia Soul and the Dallas Desperadoes.

Prior to his professional career, Nelson played for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
