Deer Park whips WV

Jason Jorgensen rushed for 128 yards and two TDs and Colton Mead passed for 154 yards with three scores as Deer Park (6-1, 3-1) took sole possession of first place in the Great Northern League with a 42-21 victory over West Valley (2-4, 1-1) on Friday in Deer Park.

Krys Smith rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles, but there was no stopping the Stags in the second half as they outscored WV 35-7 after halftime.

Pullman 21, Clarkston 18: Tyler Langerveld passed for 106 yards and hit Berndon Barrington in the end zone with 7:15 remaining to push the Greyhounds (3-4, 1-1) ahead of the Bantams (4-3, 2-2) in Pullman. Langerveld finished with two passing touchdowns – both to Barrington, who had seven catches for 101 yards.

East Valley 27, Cheney 6: Adam Talley rushed for 281 yards and two touchdowns while adding an 84-yard kick return for a score to lead the Knights (2-5, 1-2) to their first GNL win of the season against the Blackhawks (2-3, 1-2) at EV.

Coeur d’Alene 44, Lewiston 3: Chad Chalich threw for 256 yards and two TDs on 22-of-32 passing and added 96 yards rushing with two scores to lead the Vikings (6-1, 1-0) to a runaway victory over the Bengals (4-3, 0-2) in Lewiston. Zach Kaiser added 160 yards rushing and two TDs for the Vikings.

Northeast A

Colville 40, Freeman 14: James Price had 97 yards rushing and a touchdown and the Indians (7-0, 3-0) used two defensive touchdowns to outscore the Scotties (4-3, 1-3) 20-0 in the third quarter in Freeman. The Scotties took a 14-6 lead into the second quarter, but were outscored 26-0 in the second half.

Lakeside 8, Chewelah 6: Chad Brinkman finished with 120 yards passing and 51 yards rushing with a touchdown on the ground as the Eagles (2-5, 1-2) dropped the Cougars (5-2, 2-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten in league play in Chewelah. The difference in the score came in the first quarter when Chewelah quarterback Derek Smith was tackled in the end zone for a safety.

Northeast 2B

Colfax 32, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 9: Tyler McNannay tallied 144 all-purpose yards and two TDs and Alex Teade passed for 202 yards and three TDs as the visiting Bulldogs (6-0, 4-0) handed the Broncos (4-2, 2-1) their first league loss to take sole possession of first place with two games remaining.

Reardan 40, Davenport 7: Niko Knezovich rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Charlie Eldred added 99 yards and two scores as the Indians (4-2, 2-2) scored 19 points in the third quarter to put away the Gorillas (1-5, 0-5) in Reardan.

Springdale 14, Kettle Falls 7: Jalen Hagel rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Chargers (3-4, 3-2) held onto a 14-0 halftime lead to beat the Bulldogs (1-6, 1-2) in Kettle Falls.

Northeast 1B North

Selkirk 50, Curlew 30: Trevor Grant rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown and the Rangers (3-4, 2-1) opened a 38-8 lead by halftime to defeat the Cougars (2-4, 0-2) in Ione. Mike Dewey scored a pair of special-teams TDs for the Rangers, returning a kick 95 yards for a score and scoring from 45 yards out on a fake punt.

Wellpinit 34, Northport 30: A.J. Keiffer rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns, with his final score putting the Redskins (3-4, 1-1) ahead of the Mustangs (0-5, 0-4) for good in Northport. Phil Johnson finished with 311 all-purpose yards and three TDs for the Mustangs.

Northeast 1B South

Wilbur-Creston 20, Odessa-Harrington 18: Hayden Herdrick finished with 57 yards rushing and scored a pair of touchdowns, including a 57-yard score on a pass on the last play of the first half, as the Wildcats (4-3, 2-0) scored 20 straight points to push ahead of the visiting Titans (4-3, 1-1).

Southeast 2B

Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 37, Dayton 6: Earl Gaines had 55 yards rushing and a TD and Joe Gaines rushed for two TDs as the Nighthawks (3-3, 1-1) beat the visiting Bulldogs (1-5, 1-1). Scott Eberly added 84 yards passing and a TD for TOR.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 16, Pomeroy 12: J.B. Lange carried the ball 39 times for 123 yards and both Vikings touchdowns, and the Pirates (3-4, 1-2) failed to convert both two-point attempts, falling in Pomeroy. Lange’s second TD came in the fourth quarter to put the Vikings (3-3, 2-1) up for good.

LaCrosse-Washtucna 52, Touchet 32: Sawyer Hostetler ran for 208 yards and two TDs on 21 carries and Jake Aune went 19 of 29 passing for 269 yards and finished with four total TDs as the Tigercats (3-4, 2-2) edged the visiting Indians (3-3, 1-3).

St. John-Endicott 74, Sunnyside Christian 26: Kyler Rainer passed for 178 yards and four TDs and Cole McKenna added 172 rushing yards with two scores as the Eagles (5-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten in league by beating the visiting Knights (1-4, 0-3).

Nonleague

Riverside 59, St. Maries 7: Chase Flores rushed for 70 yards and four TDs and added seven extra points and a two-point pass to lead the Rams (5-2) to a win over the Lumberjacks (3-5) in Riverside.

Cusick 55, Republic 0: Tyler Edwards set a record in 8-man football, catching his 41st career touchdown pass, and Quenton Montgomery scored a pair of TDs in the Panthers’ (7-0) two-quarter romp over the Tigers (0-5) in Cusick.

Liberty Christian 44, Colton 40: Zach Simpkins rushed for three touchdowns and the Patriots scored 22 first-quarter points to take a commanding lead by halftime and beat the Wildcats (3-4) in Colton. Josh Straughan passed for six TDs for the Wildcats, helping them score 32 points after halftime.

Newport 45, Liberty 19: Zak Zanora rushed for 205 yards and five TDs and Chaize Extano added 168 rushing yards as the Grizzlies (1-5) earned their first win of the season beating the Lancers (3-3) in Newport.
