Briefs: Central Washington blanks Wolves

Ryan Roberstson passed for 177 yards and a pair of scores, completing 19 of his 35 attempts as Central Washington (5-3, 4-1) earned back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 1986, beating Western Oregon (4-3, 3-2) 19-0 in GNAC action at Qwest Field in Seattle.

The Wildcats improved to 7-1 in Battle in Seattle games, holding the Wolves to less than 100 yards of total offense to earn the shutout.

CWU secured a 12-0 lead by halftime by way of Robertson’s first TD pass to Demetrius Guice and a pair of Sean Davis field goals.

Chris Smith led the Wildcats in receiving yards with 65 and a touchdown.

Willamette 52, Puget Sound 21: Terell Malley rushed for 96 yards and four TDs as the Bearcats (4-2, 2-1 NWC) ran for 286 yards and six scores, erupting for 28 points in the third quarter to beat the Loggers (4-2, 2-1) in Salem, Ore.

The Loggers were held to 4 yards rushing on 25 carries but received 262 yards passing and a TD from quarterback Duncan White.

Pacific Lutheran 28, Menlo 10: Jordan Rasmussen threw for 265 yards and two TDs on 25-of-31 passing, hitting Greg Ford 10 times for 103 yards and a score as the Lutes improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1997 with a nonconference win over the Oaks (3-4) in Atherton, Calif.

Carroll 42, Rocky Mountain 37: Gary Wagner threw for 216 yards and a trio of touchdowns and the Saints (6-0, 6-0 Frontier) held off the Bears (2-5, 2-4) in a high-scoring affair in Billings. John Camino added 122 yards rushing with a TD for the Saints.

Kasey Peters was a constant threat for RMC, passing for 246 yards and a TD while adding 127 yards and a score on the ground.
