Sunshine to turn liquid by weekend

National Weather Service forecasters this afternoon said time is running out on the string of bright autumn days. While higher air pressure is dominating the weather pattern this week, a major change is anticipated by this weekend when clouds and potentially heavy rain may arrive. “This is going to be something to watch going into the weekend,” said forecaster Anthony Cavallucci during an afternoon weather briefing today. He said the rainy weather is likely to stick around through next week. Today, afternoon temperatures should reach the upper 50s with 59 forecast for downtown Spokane. Overnight temperatures should moderate this week. The low tonight is expected to stay above freezing at 35 degrees. Highs return to the 60s on Tuesday through Friday and lows rise into the upper 30s to nearly 40 by Thursday night. Sunday’s high in Spokane was 56 while the low was 30. At 7 a.m., it was 34 at Spokane International Airport and at Felts Field, 28 in Coeur d’Alene, 24 in Deer Park and 33 in Pullman.
