For diabetics, the days of pricking fingers to determine blood sugar levels may be coming to an end. Researchers are exploring a new method in which microbeads, coated with a fluorescent dye designed to bind with glucose molecules, are injected into the body. In tests on mice, the microbeads provided reliable results compared to blood samples while not harming the mice.
