Filed An Akron, Ohio, woman, VaNeisha Robinson, claims in a lawsuit that she was threatened into giving a LeBron James jersey pendant worth about $10,000 to the mother of the NBA star’s business manager Maverick Carter. Carter has said the pendant was stolen from him three years ago. Robinson said the pendant was in a box of items she bought for $5 at a garage sale about five years ago.
Out Miami star Dwyane Wade will not practice with the Heat today. He’s scheduled to remain in Chicago for at least one more day of testimony in the case that will decide custody of his two children. Wade may not practice until Sunday.
Finished Tennis player Serena Williams is done for the season. In a statement e-mailed to the AP by her agent, Williams said she “re-tore the tendon” in her right foot, which she originally injured by cutting it on glass at a restaurant shortly after winning Wimbledon in July. Williams had surgery in New York on Monday.
Signed The Portland Timbers signed four players, including three from their current roster, to join the team’s jump to Major League Soccer next season. Goalkeeper Steve Cronin, forward Bright Dike, forward Eddie Johnson and midfielder Ryan Pore were introduced as the club’s first MLS signings.
