In brief: Free auto work at Clark’s

VERADALE – On Wednesday and next Thursday, local vehicles can receive free lube, oil filter, wiper blade replacement and tire rotation, along with a free complete winter inspection, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Clark’s Tire and Automotive, 16010 E. Sprague Ave.

The timely event is also a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels and will include a barbecue with free hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. For more information call (509) 924-1681.

Haunted City School to open

DISHMAN – The West Valley City School, 8920 E. Valleyway Ave., will present the Haunted City School on Friday, Saturday and Oct. 29 and 30 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Rumor has it that the school is haunted year-round by a custodian who died in the boiler room in 1964. It is said that some teachers prefer not to work in the building at night.

SPOKANE VALLEY – Numerica Credit Union will host a household supply drive on Saturday in the Rosauers parking lot at University City, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drive will benefit Safety Net, an organization that helps teens who have grown out of foster care.

Items needed include blankets and pillows, double sheets, bath and hand towels, laundry baskets, buckets, cleaning supplies, small kitchen appliances, dishes, silverware, dish cloths, bowls, pots and pans. Participants who would like to donate larger items, such as furniture can call (509) 325-0701, ext. 36, to arrange for pickup.
