Fire destroys northeast Spokane home

Spokane fire investigators today were sifting through rubble of a northeast Spokane home destroyed by fire on Thursday night, fire officials said. Twenty firefighters in six fire rigs responded to the 10 p.m. blaze at 2914 E. Rowan Ave. A search of the home revealed that all of the occupants had escaped. No injuries were reported. Fire crews remained at the scene overnight and turned over the investigation into the cause to the fire department’s special investigation unit. The Spokane chapter of the American Red Cross reported that it was helping three occupants in two units with temporary shelter and emergency supplies such as clothing.
