Outage interrupts gambling at Las Vegas hotel-casino

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS – The Golden Nugget hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas lost power for nearly two hours Thursday, forcing patrons to stop gambling, a casino spokeswoman said.

An NV Energy spokeswoman said the outage occurred after someone in the area hit a cable underground while digging. Power was restored before 4 p.m. and players were trickling back inside after an outage that tripped a fire alarm and caused slot machines to turn off.

The Golden Nugget was the only casino affected.
