Bantams beat Stags, cause GNL log  jam

Brady Arnone threw for a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning score in the fourth quarter, as Clarkston (5-3, 3-2) upended Deer Park (6-2, 3-2) 14-7 in Great Northern League play in Clarkston.

The win put the Bantams in a tie for first place with the Stags with no more league games remaining for either team. They must await the outcome of Cheney and East Valley’s final league games to determine a champion.

East Valley 27, West Valley 14: Adam Talley rushed for 167 yards and three TDs – and added a pair of field goals – and the Knights (3-5, 2-2) scored all of their points in the first half, holding off the Eagles (2-5, 1-2) the rest of the way at WV.

Cheney 38, Pullman 0: Eric Igibinoba ran back the opening kick of the second half 85 yards for a touchdown, sparking a 29-point third quarter to lift the Blackhawks (3-3, 2-2) over the Greyhounds (3-5, 1-2) in Cheney.

Timberlake 21, Bonners Ferry 6: Christian Heth rushed for 133 yards and Ty Shaffer added 77 yards rushing and two TDs as the Tigers (3-5, 3-0) clinched at least a share of the IML title with their win over the Badgers (3-5, 2-1) in Spirit Lake.

Priest River 44, St. Maries 12: Eric Holbrock tallied 220 all-purpose yards with four total touchdowns to lead the Spartans (3-5, 2-1) to a victory over the Lumberjacks (3-6, 1-3) in PR. Tyler Douglas added 71 yards and two TDs for the Spartans.

Northeast A

Lakeside 21, Newport 6: Josh Lauderdale led the Eagles’ defensive effort with eight tackles and an interception as the Eagles (4-4, 3-1) held the Grizzlies (1-6, 0-5) to just 66 yards of total offense in Nine Mile Falls. Paul Thomas had three catches for 106 yards and two TDs for the Eagles, who remain a game back of Colville for first place.

Riverside 46, Chewelah 24: Josh Davis pounded out 257 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 12 carries and Chase Florez rushed for 126 yards and two TDs as the Rams (6-2, 3-2) passed the Cougars (5-3, 2-2) in the league standings with a win in Riverside.

The Cougars still have a game remaining against Colville, but are no longer in contention for a league title with two losses in three games.

Northeast 2B

Colfax 63, Springdale 0: Tyler McNannay had 207 yards rushing and two TDs and the Bulldogs (7-0, 5-0) piled up 583 yards of total offense in their shutout of the Chargers (3-5, 3-3) in Colfax. Senior receiver Kellen Morgan added 93 yards and two TDs for the Bulldogs, who assured themselves at least a share of the league title with the win.

The win for Colfax was coach Mike Morgan’s 100th career win. His first win also came against Springdale during a 1-8 season for the Bulldogs.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 28, Reardan 0: Micah Brown rushed for 264 yards and a touchdown on 37 carries as the Broncos (5-2, 4-1) kept pace with Colfax with their win over the visiting Indians (4-3, 2-3). Jake Eichner tallied 124 all-purpose yards and three TDs for LRS.

Kettle Falls 47, Liberty 14: Brandon Thomas went 3-for-5 passing for 107 yards and two touchdowns, adding 97 yards rushing and a TD as the Bulldogs (2-6, 2-3) scored 34 points against the Lancers (3-4, 2-3) in the second half in Kettle Falls.

North Star

Wallace 46, Mullan 0: Nathan Cook ran the ball six times for 147 yards and three touchdowns and Kidman Cook added five carries for 64 yards and two TDs as the Miners (7-0, 7-0) envoked the mercy rule against the Tigers (0-8, 0-7) after just two quarters in Mullan.

Lakeside 74, Clark Fork 28: Tyler McCulley matched his own personal best with six rushing touchdowns, covering 324 yards on 19 carries in the Knights’ (6-2, 4-2) rout of the Wampus Cats (2-5, 2-5) in Plummer. Tucker Louie-McGee passed for 127 yards and three TDs for the Knights.

Southeast 2B

Tri-Cities Prep 37, Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 26: Evan Whitsett threw for 362 yards and four TDs on 17-of-23 passing to lead the Jaguars (3-4, 1-3) to a win over the Nighthawks (3-4, 1-3) in Pasco. Earl Gains rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown for the Nighthawks.

Northeast 1B North

Wellpinit 48, Selkirk 20: A.J. Kieffer and Greg Wynecoop each finished with 200 all-purpose yards and combined for six touchdowns in the Redskins’ (4-4, 3-1) win over Rangers (3-5, 2-2) in Wellpinit. The win moved the Redskins into a tie with Columbia-Inchelium for second place.

Columbia-Inchelium 69, Curlew 23: Gabe Jones and Trevor Anderson combined for 269 yards rushing and four touchdowns on just seven carries and the Hornets (4-2, 3-1) scored 53 points in the first half to cruise past the Cougars (2-5, 0-4) in Curlew.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 47, Odessa-Harrington 0: Derek Isaak had 147 yards rushing and two TDs and added 166 passing yards with three scores as the Warriors (7-0, 3-0) finished off the visiting Titans (4-4, 1-2) in just three quarters.

Wilbur-Creston 46, Easton-Thorp 22: Hayden Herdrick rushed for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the visting Wildcats (5-3, 3-1) held a 28-0 lead at halftime and coasted to a win over the Jaguars (1-5, 0-3).

Colton 62, Sunnyside Christian 32: Josh Straughan passed for seven touchdowns and rushed for an eighth to lead the Wildcats (4-4, 3-1) to a win over the Knights (1-5) in Sunnyside. His final three TD passes went to brother Jake Straughan.

St. John-Endicott 60, LaCrosse-Washtucna 22: Cole McCanna carried the ball 18 times for 255 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Eagles (6-1, 4-0) to a win over the host Tigercats (3-5, 2-3).

After just six points in the opening quarter, SJE went for 54 points in the game’s final three quarters.

Freeman 24, Medical Lake 15: Josh Richardson rushed for two touchdowns and Wyatt Smith threw two more as the Scotties (5-3) defeated the Cardinals (2-5) in ML.

Lewiston 33, Boise 20: The Bengals (4-3) beat the Braves (1-6-1) in Lewiston. No other information was available.

Cusick 55, Mansfield 6: Tyler Edwards threw four touchdown passes to receiver Shem Norton and Cusick (8-0) knocked off the Kernels (2-4), putting the mercy rule into effect early in the third quarter in Cusick.

Kamiah 27, Kellogg 7: The Kubs beat the Wildcats (0-8) in Kellogg. No other information was available.

Davenport 21, Manson 6: Derik Oliver rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Gorillas (2-5) shook their five-game losing streak with a win over the Trojans (3-3) in Manson.
