Fans like violence

Recently the National Football League took action pertaining to all the violent hitting during games. It was stated by more than one league official that something must be done based on the increased concussions suffered by players this past Sunday.

History has shown we like to be entertained at any cost that includes injury to the participants; it seems the more violent the sport the more enjoyable it becomes. We have embraced more fighting in hockey and kick boxing, also known as mixed martial arts.

It seems if someone isn’t getting hurt then the interest is not there. Have we become like our barbaric ancestors or have we lost all our human compassion? Or maybe we are just selfish.

Problems exist at all levels of sports. What will it take? Someone losing their life in order for us to see that something needs to be done? I do not want to see death at a football game. I do believe we’re heading that way, then people may change their mind or we will wind up with people in wheelchairs, which then will create another issue.
