Fund would allow needed action

The Spokesman-Review has had excellent educational reporting and has done a terrific job working on the Our Kids, Our Business campaign. That’s why I was very disturbed to see that your editorial board did not endorse Prop 1: The Children’s Investment Fund. We can talk about our education challenges until we are blue in the face, but now is the time for action, not words.

The Children’s Investment Fund is a proven and effective solution to increasing educational achievement. That’s why everyone from Community In Schools to Greater Spokane Incorporated has endorsed this measure. Why? Because they know more kids earning degrees means more economic benefits for everyone. It’s about giving our kids a competitive edge.

While other communities sit on their hands I’m proud that Spokane has formed a broad grass-roots movement to come up with an education solution called Prop 1. Please join me in voting “yes” for the Children’s Investment Fund.
