All-American band includes CV senior

Corbin Croom, a senior at Central Valley High School, has been selected to perform in the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band in San Antonio Jan. 8.

The band will perform the halftime show at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, a football game that features the best high school players in the country. Former players in that game include Adrian Peterson, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher.

Croom plays the tenor drums in the award-winning marching band at Central Valley. He will join 124 other high school senior musicians and color guard members from around the country during halftime. They were selected by a committee that included representatives from the National Association for Music Education, Drum Corps International and the show coordinator.

Representatives from the U.S. Army and the games announced Croom’s trip during an assembly last week at CV.

The game will be televised at 10 a.m. on NBC Jan. 8.
