Thrift store Trader Tots planning grand opening

Stephanie Brodwater is seen on Wednesday at Trader Tots, a used children’s and maternity clothing and infant merchandise store that she owns with her mother, Becky Benson, in Post Falls. (Kathy Plonka)

The grand opening for Trader Tots is this Saturday. Formerly the home of Post Falls Insurance, a consignment shop for children’s clothing, baby gear and maternity clothing opened in mid-October in Post Falls Plaza near The Dollar Tree and KC’s Breakfast Club and across from Walmart.

The consignment process gives the consignor 50 percent when the item sells, according to owner Stephanie Brodwater.

“So they make more because second-hand stores buy the items outright from consignors,” Brodwater said. “It also allows us to carry a more diverse selection of items. We have something for everyone, newborn to 16, maternity clothes, burp rags, shoes, games, books, movies, baby monitors and toddler beds. We can’t sell cribs and car seats because of the recalls and safety issues.”

Brodwater has a background in education and journalism, while her partner and mother, Becky Benson, was a manager with Kerr Oil. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and 9:30 to 5:30 Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. (208) 773-7506.
