Sex offender gets two-year sentence

A Plummer, Idaho, man who sexually abused a child then failed to register as a sex offender was sentenced this week to more than two years in federal prison. Jeremy Bohlman, 31, was required to live at the Port of Hope drug treatment facility in Coeur d’Alene when he left on March 23. He was arrested on April 21 in Fairfield, Wash., after a high-speed police chase that began in Idaho, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. Bohlman was charged because he left the center and didn’t report his change of address. He’d already been convicted of violating his parole. He had been sentenced in January 2007 to 50 months in prison for sexually abusing a child on the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation. In a sentencing memorandum, Bohlman’s lawyer said his client’s methamphetamine addiction led to that abuse as well as his decision to leave the treatment center. Along with 27 months in prison, Bohlman will be on probation for five years, U.S District Judge Edward Lodge ordered on Tuesday.
