Arkansas man dies after hitting I-90 guard rail

By The Spokesman-Review

An Arkansas man died early Sunday morning after driving into a median divider on Interstate 90 at Post Falls and crashing into the guard rail, police said.

Russell T. Plott, 39, of Texarkana, Ark., died at the scene of the wreck, at eastbound mile marker 2 on the freeway near the Pleasant View Road exit.

Idaho State police said he headed east at about 3:30 a.m. when he failed to make a right-hand turn on the freeway, drove into the median divider, and struck the end of a metal guard rail. Plott, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the 1990 Subaru Legacy, police said.

I will never understand why anybody would not wear a safety belt, there is no logic behind it… Could this be the last remnants of some long lost cultural ideals from decades past? Even when its jambed in the retractor thing or stuck under the back seat, I will still find a way to fasten my safety belt.
