In brief: Skyview edges Coeur d’Alene

The Coeur d’Alene football team couldn’t make a 10-point lead in the third quarter stand up in a 36-34 loss to Skyview of Vancouver in a nonleague game Saturday night at Nampa, Idaho.

Reiley Henderson caught a 7-yard pass from Kieran McDonagh with 11 minutes, 44 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter as the Storm (1-1) rallied from a 31-21 deficit.

The Vikings (2-1) led 24-21 at halftime. They went ahead 31-21 when quarterback Chad Chalich tossed a 4-yard pass to receiver Jake Matheson as CdA took advantage of a turnover.

CdA’s Parker Wilson kicked a 28-yard field goal late in the third quarter that gave the Vikings a 34-30 lead.

• For the second time in as many weeks, the Post Falls Trojans blew out an opponent.

After opening with a 57-14 win at Caldwell two weeks ago, the Trojans had no problems against Centennial Secondary School from Vancouver, British Columbia, winning 51-6 in a game played at Ellensburg.

Senior quarterback Matt Lickfold threw two touchdown passes and running back Tyson Johnson rushed for more than 100 yards. The Trojans (2-0) intercepted three passes.

Post Falls plays its home opener Friday against East Valley (1-1).

Boys soccer

Seven players scored to lead Coeur d’Alene (5-1-1 overall, 2-0-0 league) to an 8-1 win over Lewiston in a 5A Inland Empire League match at CdA.

Freshman Matt Holquist had a goal and two assists.

Girls soccer

Post Falls pulled off a big 5A Inland Empire League victory, blanking visiting Coeur d’Alene 1-0.

Aubree Mercier scored the lone goal on an assist from Lexi Smith.

• In another league match, Lake City and Lewiston played to a 0-0 deadlock at LC. The Timberwolves outshot Lewiston 13-6.

Volleyball

Washington defending State 2A champ Pullman topped former Great Northern League rival Colville 25-18, 17-25, 15-10 in the championship match of the Lakeland Invitational at Rathdrum. Stefanie Logan led the Greyhounds with 49 kills in the tourney and Shelby Cheslek had 19 blocks.
