Spokane Valley Fire – The Spokane Industrial Park has signed a voluntary agreement to upgrade the sprinkler systems in their buildings over the next five years. The department has finished a self assessment manual that will help in its bid for accreditation. Commissioners voted to accept new deployment standards. They also voted to send a letter to the Spokane Valley City Council expressing concern about how the one way section of Sprague in front of Station 1 is affecting response times.

Rockford City Council – A public hearing was held on the water usage efficiency report. The council set two water conservation goals; to reduce seasonal outdoor water usage by 2 or 3 percent by 2014 and save five gallons of water per family home per day by 2014. Representatives from the Spokane County Conservation District spoke about studies done on Rock Creek. The council voted to apply to be a Tree City USA this year. (Source: Town clerk Darlene LaShaw)
