Nick Foles hit William Wright with a late 4-yard touchdown pass and No. 24 Arizona held its ground in the national spotlight with a momentum-swinging 34-27 win over ninth-ranked Iowa Saturday night in Tucson, Ariz.

Arizona (3-0) jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead behind a slew of big plays that included a blocked punt, Travis Cobb’s 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and an interception returned 85 yards by Trevin Wade for another score.

Iowa (2-1) rallied behind its defense in the second half, grinding the Wildcats’ offense to a halt to set up two of Ricky Stanzi’s three touchdown passes.

The Hawkeyes had a chance at the lead midway through the fourth quarter when defensive tackle Broderick Binns returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown, but Trent Mossbrucker’s extra point was partially blocked, leaving the score at 27-all.

The Wildcats finally shook out of their second-half funk on the next drive, moving 72 yards in nine plays for the winning score, then sealed what they hope is a program-defining win with four straight sacks of Stanzi.

UCLA 31, (23) Houston 13: Johnathan Franklin rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and the Bruins rolled to a victory over the Cougars, which lost star quarterback Case Keenum to an injury for the second straight week.

Kevin Prince passed for 99 yards and rushed for a score as the Bruins (1-2) ricocheted back from a humiliating 35-0 loss to Stanford last week with a stunningly one-sided win over the powerful Cougars (2-1). For the second straight week, Keenum was hurt while trying to make a tackle after an interception.

(19) Stanford 68, Wake Forest 24: Andrew Luck threw four touchdown passes, ran 52 yards for another score and led the Cardinal (3-0) to the end zone on all eight drives that he played in a victory over the Demon Decons (2-1) at Stanford, Calif.

Chris Owusu caught two TD passes in his first game of the season and Tyler Gaffney ran for two scores to help the Cardinal score their most points in 42 years. Stanford has won its first three games for the first time since 2001.

(11) Wisconsin 20, Arizona State 19: Jay Valai blocked a game-tying extra point try and the Badgers (3-0) held on for a nonconference victory over the Wildcats (2-1) at Madison, Wis.

Arizona State’s Cameron Marshall scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to cut Wisconsin’s lead to 20-19 with 4:09 left in the game. But Valai, a senior safety, burst through the line to block the kick – salvaging what had been a miserable day for the Badgers’ special teams.

(5) Oregon 69, Portland State 0: LaMichael James ran for 227 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns and the Ducks (3-0) blasted the Vikings (2-1) at Eugene, Ore., in their final tuneup before Pac-10 play. Oregon set a school record with 528 yards rushing, surpassing the mark 465 set at Washington in 2007.

(25) Oregon State 35, Louisville 28: Jacquizz Rodgers ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns and James Dockery sealed the game with an interception as the Beavers (1-1) defeated the Cardinals (1-2) at Corvallis, Ore.
