Man’s murder trial moved to Spokane

The third murder trial for Vicente Ruiz is being moved from Franklin County to Spokane County.

Franklin County Superior Court Judge Cameron Mitchell earlier granted a change of venue for Ruiz, accused of shooting six men inside a Pasco body shop in 1987, killing five and wounding one. Attorneys for Ruiz, 45, say he can’t get a fair trial in Franklin County because of publicity.

On Friday, Mitchell said Spokane County had the time and space for the trial, which is to start Nov. 9.
