Clouds, breezes, showers likely

Breezy winds and a chance of showers are in the forecast for today, but a drying trend is likely on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecasters are calling for wind gusts up to 24 mph under mostly cloudy skies. Rain showers are possible after 11 a.m. A high of 64 is expected in downtown Spokane. Sun should reappear on Tuesday and Wednesday, but warmer air is not likely. Highs throughout the week should be in the middle 60s. There is a slight chance of showers on Thursday, but the weekend weather is likely to be dry through Saturday. Highs should return to the lower 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday’s rainfall amounts ranged from about a quarter inch to well over an inch in mountain areas. Schweitzer Basin in North Idaho had 1.2 inches of rain. Odessa in the northern Columbia Basin had 0.4 inches while Felts Field in Spokane had 0.61 inches. Rainfall records were broken Sunday in several locations. Pullman has 0.39 inches of rain, breaking the previous record of 0.30 inches set in 2006. Records have been kept there since 1940. Moses Lake had 0.36 inches of rain, breaking the previous record of 0.30 in 1983. At 7 a.m. today, it was 52 at Spokane International Airport, 54 at Felts Field and Coeur d’Alene and 51 at Deer Park and Pullman.
