Area roundup: Anderson, Waves crash Husky Invite

Josh Anderson and Andrew Putnam finished with three-day scores of 206 and 210, respectively, to top the leaderboard Tuesday and lead the Pepperdine men’s golf team to a championship at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn.

Anderson earned medalist honors with his 10-under-par 206, helping the Waves to a team score of 847, seven shots better than host Washington.

Idaho rounded out the top five at the tournament, scoring an 871, led by Jarred Bossio’s third-place finish at 211.

Volleyball

Amy Roberts had 18 kills and Jaimie Thibeault added 17 with five blocks as Montana (5-8) rallied to win 3-1 against Gonzaga (2-14) in nonconference play Missoula. The loss was the 12th straight by the Bulldogs, who start West Coast Conference play Sept. 30.

Women’s soccer

Jill Flockhart scored a tap-in goal at 76 minutes to lead Idaho (7-2) to a 1-0 nonconference victory over Eastern Washington (0-7-1) at Albi Stadium.
