Crosby left gift to baseball fans

Baseball: Bing Crosby often found himself dreaming of the Pittsburgh Pirates, too, even while on vacation in Paris during the 1960 World Series.

The support and superstition of the Spokane entertainment legend wound up being good for baseball fans: Found in his wine cellar was film of the deciding Game 7, in which the Pirates’ Bill Mazeroski hit a game-ending homer to beat the Yankees, that was thought to be lost.

The New York Times reported that the complete NBC broadcast had been discovered in Crosby’s longtime home near San Francisco.

Shock add ex-EWU player

Arena football: The Spokane Shock added to their roster 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive end Lance Witherspoon, a former Eastern Washington University player, and DB Rod Mosley.

Witherspoon, who had 121 tackles during his Eagles career, spent last season with the Cleveland Gladiators.

Mosley spent last season with Spokane, but his season was cut short by an injury.
