Panthers win in shootout

Kara Marbury scored in the final two minutes to send the match into overtime and Behka Nemec’s conversion clinched the shootout for the Mead girls soccer team (7-0, 2-0), which rallied to beat Shadle Park (6-1, 1-1) 3-2 on Friday in a battle of unbeaten Greater Spokane League teams at Merkel Complex.

Kacee Hert gave SP a 1-1 tie at 70 minutes and Tiara Pajimola briefly gave the Highlanders the lead in the 72nd minute.

Lindzee Baker scored the first goal for the Panthers and also added a goal in the shootout.

In other GSL matches, Julia Moravec scored a goal and added an assist in the second half as Lewis and Clark (7-0-1, 2-0) snapped a 1-1 tie with three goals after the break to beat Central Valley (5-2, 0-2) 4-1 at Hart Field. Moravec finished with two goals and an assist for LC. … Maddy Jones made the clinching goal in the shootout for Ferris (4-1-1, 1-1), which topped Gonzaga Prep (6-2, 0-2) 3-2 at Ferris. Sarah Harrison added a goal and an assist, as well as a shootout goal for the Saxons. … Autumn Chavez snapped a scoreless tie in the 70th minute to lift North Central (1-5, 1-1) over University (3-1, 1-1) 1-0 at NC. The Titans recorded 24 shots against the Indians but could not convert any of them against keeper Asia Porter. … Alli Floyd and Danika Martin each scored a goal and added an assist as Mt. Spokane (6-1, 2-0) outshot Rogers (1-3, 0-2) 25-5 en route to a 7-0 win at Rogers.

Volleyball

• Greater Spokane League: Kiley Kamitomo dominated the court in Ferris’ third league match, recording 13 kills, four aces and 11 digs to lead the Saxons (2-1) to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-9 sweep of host Rogers (0-3).

Samantha Thompson had three kills and two blocks to lead the Pirates.
