Question the deputy

In response to Mr. Paul Lindholdt’s letter (Sept. 19) regarding the unfortunate, uncertain death of Pastor Wayne Scott Creach, Mr. Lindholdt’s comparison to a YouTube target incident and the NRA stance of guns is ignorant at best.

People will kill people with whatever they can get their hands on. Then he questions a private citizen’s right to bear arms against an intruder on his own property. Why not question the real culprit, Deputy Hirzel, using logical questions?

Why didn’t the deputy call Mr. Creach before entering his property and ask his permission to be on his property for a stakeout? Why didn’t the deputy identify himself by using his police lights or siren or any means to warn Mr. Creach that he was a police officer? There are many ways a police officer should act before he takes a person’s life, but in this case the “gunslinger” did not get the correct information before he pulled the trigger and just killed an innocent man. We will never know, will we, because the actual citizen is dead, and the police police themselves and protect each other. Demand your politicians oversee the police by an independent body, including local citizens.
