Stags sneak past Pullman

Colton Mead threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns – on 18 of 35 passing – and Deer Park (4-0, 1-0) took advantage of a failed extra point and a failed two-point conversion by Pullman (1-3, 0-1) to earn a 21-19 win in its Great Northern League opener Friday in Deer Park.

Corey Langerveld also threw for three touchdowns and added 231 yards passing for the Greyhounds, who missed their first extra point and then failed to convert a two-point rushing attempt in the fourth quarter.

Clarkston 21, Cheney 7: Brady Arnone threw for three touchdowns and the Bantams (3-1, 1-0) held the Blackhawks (1-2, 0-1) to just seven points in Clarkston.

Coeur d’Alene 55, Sandpoint 7: The Vikings (3-1) defeated the Bulldogs (2-2) in CdA. No other information was available.

Chewelah 28, Newport 0: Calvin Connall ran the ball 12 times for 80 yards and two first-half touchdowns, and the Cougars’ (3-1, 1-0) defense held the Grizzlies (0-3, 0-2) to 129 yards and forced five turnovers, including three by Josh Sulgrove, in Chewelah.

Lakeside 20, Riverside 6: Jimmy Day rushed for 86 yards and two TDs and the Eagles (2-2, 1-0) rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to score the game’s final 20 points against the Rams (3-1, 1-1) in Riverside.

Colfax 56, Liberty 14: The Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten behind 157 rushing yards and three total touchdowns from Tyler McNanny in their win over the Lancers (2-1, 1-1) in Spangle.

Kettle Falls 31, Davenport 7: Zac Brock and Mike Larson each rushed for a pair of touchdowns and combined for 174 yards on 26 carries as the Bulldogs (1-3, 1-1) broke through for their first win of the season against the Gorillas (1-2, 0-2) in Davenport.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 34, Springdale 6: Micah Brown had 79 yards rushing with three TDs and the Broncos (2-1, 1-0) scored 34 consecutive points to close the game against the Chargers (0-4, 0-2) in Springdale.

Kootenai 66, Clark Fork 20: Brandon Carman rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns and the Warriors (3-2, 3-1) forced the 45-point mercy rule in the third quarter against the Wampus Cats (1-3, 1-3) in Harrison. Three of Carman’s TDs came during a 38-point first quarter for the Warriors.

Wallace 42, Lakeside 40: Gavin Rasmussen ran in the game-tying touchdown and then added the winning two-point conversion as the Miners (4-0, 4-0) managed to stay unbeaten with a win against the Knights (2-2, 2-2) in Plummer. Rasmussen tallied two TDs, while Nathan Cook added three rushing scores for the Miners.

Cusick 60, Columbia-Inchelium 12: Tyler Edwards went 21 of 37 passing for 374 yards and five touchdowns, running in a sixth, as the Panthers (4-0, 2-0) steamrolled the Timberwolves (2-2, 1-1) in Cusick to remain unbeaten. Ryan Sample added 178 yards receiving with three TDs.

Selkirk 46, Northport 14: Trevor Grant rushed for four touchdowns and the Rangers (2-2, 1-0) built a 36-6 lead at halftime, en route to a win over the Mustangs (0-3, 0-2) in Northport.

Garfield-Palouse 52, LaCrosse-Washtucna 28: J.B. Lange rushed for 202 yards and scored the first three touchdowns for the Vikings (2-1, 1-0) and finished with four total scores against the visiting Tigercats (1-3, 0-1). Lange also added 10 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Colton 30, Pomeroy 24: Josh Straughan passed for 296 yards and two TDs and added 23 rushing yards and three scores, including the winning TD in the fourth quarter, as the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0) rallied to score the game’s final 18 points against the Pirates (1-3, 0-1) in Colton.
