Stags sneak past Pullman

Colton Mead threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns – on 18 of 35 passing – and Deer Park (4-0, 1-0) took advantage of a failed extra point and a failed two-point conversion by Pullman (1-3, 0-1) to earn a 21-19 win in its Great Northern League opener Friday in Deer Park.

Corey Langerveld also threw for three touchdowns and added 231 yards passing for the Greyhounds, who missed their first extra point and then failed to convert a two-point rushing attempt in the fourth quarter.

Clarkston 21, Cheney 7: Brady Arnone threw for three touchdowns and the Bantams (3-1, 1-0) held the Blackhawks (1-2, 0-1) to just seven points in Clarkston.

Inland Empire

Coeur d’Alene 55, Sandpoint 7: The Vikings (3-1) defeated the Bulldogs (2-2) in CdA. No other information was available.

Post Falls 41, Lakeland 7: The Trojans (4-0) upended the Hawks (1-4) in Rathdrum. No other information was available.

Chewelah 28, Newport 0: Calvin Connall ran the ball 12 times for 80 yards and two first-half touchdowns, and the Cougars’ (3-1, 1-0) defense held the Grizzlies (0-3, 0-2) to 129 yards and forced five turnovers, including three by Josh Sulgrove, in Chewelah.

Lakeside 20, Riverside 6: Jimmy Day rushed for 86 yards and two TDs and the Eagles (2-2, 1-0) rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to score the game’s final 20 points against the Rams (3-1, 1-1) in Riverside.

Northeast 2B

Colfax 56, Liberty 14: The Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten behind 157 rushing yards and three total touchdowns from Tyler McNanny in their win over the Lancers (2-1, 1-1) in Spangle.

Kettle Falls 31, Davenport 7: Zac Brock and Mike Larson each rushed for a pair of touchdowns and combined for 174 yards on 26 carries as the Bulldogs (1-3, 1-1) broke through for their first win of the season against the Gorillas (1-2, 0-2) in Davenport.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 34, Springdale 6: Micah Brown had 79 yards rushing with three TDs and the Broncos (2-1, 1-0) scored 34 consecutive points to close the game against the Chargers (0-4, 0-2) in Springdale.

North Star

Kootenai 66, Clark Fork 20: Brandon Carman rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns and the Warriors (3-2, 3-1) forced the 45-point mercy rule in the third quarter against the Wampus Cats (1-3, 1-3) in Harrison. Three of Carman’s TDs came during a 38-point first quarter for the Warriors.

Wallace 42, Lakeside 40: Gavin Rasmussen ran in the game-tying touchdown and then added the winning two-point conversion as the Miners (4-0, 4-0) managed to stay unbeaten with a win against the Knights (2-2, 2-2) in Plummer. Rasmussen tallied two TDs, while Nathan Cook added three rushing scores for the Miners.

Northeast 1B North

Cusick 60, Columbia-Inchelium 12: Tyler Edwards went 21 of 37 passing for 374 yards and five touchdowns, running in a sixth, as the Panthers (4-0, 2-0) steamrolled the Timberwolves (2-2, 1-1) in Cusick to remain unbeaten. Ryan Sample added 178 yards receiving with three TDs.

Selkirk 46, Northport 14: Trevor Grant rushed for four touchdowns and the Rangers (2-2, 1-0) built a 36-6 lead at halftime, en route to a win over the Mustangs (0-3, 0-2) in Northport.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 52, LaCrosse-Washtucna 28: J.B. Lange rushed for 202 yards and scored the first three touchdowns for the Vikings (2-1, 1-0) and finished with four total scores against the visiting Tigercats (1-3, 0-1). Lange also added 10 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Colton 30, Pomeroy 24: Josh Straughan passed for 296 yards and two TDs and added 23 rushing yards and three scores, including the winning TD in the fourth quarter, as the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0) rallied to score the game’s final 18 points against the Pirates (1-3, 0-1) in Colton.

Nonleague

Colville 42, East Valley 20: Blake Sjordal finished with 214 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries and the Indians (4-0) opened up a 14-point lead over the Knights (1-3) by halftime in Colville. Shane Quinn had 194 yards and a touchdown for EV in the loss.

Moscow 26, Priest River 7: Justin Parkins scored two rushing touchdowns and the Bears (3-2) scored 24 points in the second and third quarters to bury the Spartans (1-3) in Priest River.

Medical Lake 20, Bonners Ferry 6: Tim Haynes rushed for all three touchdowns for the Cardinals (1-3), who held the Badgers (1-3) scoreless for the first three quarters en route to the win in Bonners Ferry.

Freeman 52, Kellogg 20: Josh Richardson had 171 yards rushing and three touchdowns and the Scotties (3-1) rushed for 386 yards overall against the Wildcats (0-4) in Freeman. Quinn Robinson added 160 yards and two TDs for the Scotties.

Reardan 21, Kittitas 20: Chace Bell ran a punt return 50 yards for a touchdown with 4 minutes remaining and Charlie Eldred ran in the two-point conversion to push the Indians (3-0) past the Coyotes (2-2) in Reardan. Bell finished with 94 yards rushing for the Indians, while Tom Studer passed for 217 yards and three TDs for Kittitas.

St. Maries 48, Orofino 14: Brad Anderson carried the ball 12 times for 228 yards and finished with three total touchdowns, including a punt and a kick return for scores, in the Lumberjacks’ (2-3) win against the Maniacs in St. Maries.

Fruitland 71, Timberlake 16: The Grizzlies (4-0) opened things up by halftime, scoring 57 points by the break to crush the Tigers (0-4) in Fruitland. Christian Heth and Chris Williams scored touchdowns for the Tigers.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 56, Odessa-Harrington 8: In the first of two meetings against the Titans (2-2), Derek Isaac rushed for two touchdowns, threw two more and returned a punt for a fifth as the Warriors (4-0) forced the 45-point mercy rule midway through the fourth quarter in Odessa.

Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 43, Soap Lake 27: Scott Eberle had two rushing touchdowns and one passing and the Nighthawks (2-2) handled the visiting Eagles.

Liberty Christian 54, St. John-Endicott 34: Zach Simpkins rushed for 211 yards and five TDs and the visiting Patriots (3-0) handed the Eagles (2-1) their first loss of the year.

Wilbur-Creston 80, Wellpinit 54: Hayden Herdrick scored four rushing touchdowns and the Wildcats (2-2) pounced for 22 points in the first quarter to separate themselves from the Redskins (0-4) in Wellpinit.
