Letter: Thanks, GU women

I just finished studying that picture of the Gonzaga women’s basketball team, which appeared in The Spokesman-Review sports section (March 29), and I must say a few words about those beautiful young ladies thanking their fans.

I feel that it is we, the fans, who should express our grateful thanks to these girls and their coach, Kelly Graves, for all the effort they exerted to get as far as they did this season.

As to the game with Stanford, I can think only of those words written by Grantland Rice:

“For when the One Great Scorer comes to mark against your name, He writes – not that you won or lost – but how you played the game.”

I feel assured the He will place each one of you right at the very top. And if He should ask me, that will be my recommendation.
