Budget requires bigger blade

While in control of both houses in 2010, Democrats shirked their responsibility and chose not to pass a budget for 2011 because they knew they would be blamed for irresponsible spending and an exploding deficit.

Now Republicans are leading the House to finish the budget work Democrats ran from. Republicans timidly are trying to make cuts totaling less than 2 percent of the budget while Democrats offer no cuts whatsoever. Democrats clearly believe a $1.65 trillion deficit is not a threat to our nation and reject any notion of material spending restraint.

Sen. Harry Reid and President Obama are famous for saying, “We need to take a scalpel to the budget.” Well, I have news for Democrats. A scalpel is the proper tool for removing a sliver from your pinkie finger. A $1.65 trillion deficit is not a sliver.

The reality is we are nearly bankrupt and on track for the devastation of the U.S. economy and YOUR standard of living. Obama’s 10-year projection is one of expanding spending and not one year of a balanced budget. Now the Democrats in Congress and Senate are defending Obama’s plan for national suicide by forcing a government shutdown.
