Slide closes eastbound I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass

A slide on Interstate 90 in the vicinity of a snow shed along Keechelus Lake has closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 this afternoon. A line of traffic was stopped behind the slide in the vicinity of Hyak, and another line of stopped traffic was waiting the western start up to the pass at Denny Creek where the freeway was closed. The Washington Department of Transportation and State Patrol were on the scene. DOT workers were trying to clear the slide to reopen the lanes and an avalanche control crew was headed to the slide to assess risk of further avalanches. There was no early indication of when the freeway would reopen. The westbound lanes remained open and apparently weren’t affected by the slide.
