Police are looking for a gunman after a 20-year-old man was shot in the chest this morning in northeast Spokane.

Levi W. Corker was taken to a hospital for surgery after the shooting at 6311 N. Altamont St., where he had been staying on the couch in an apartment. His condition is not available.

Police found a bag of suspected marijuana in the bushes west of the apartment door, according to a search warrant.

A next door neighborhood told police he awoke about 2:30 a.m. to Corker banging on the door. He said he’d been shot by a man in a black and white coat.

Three witnesses at the apartment where Corker was staying said they were sleeping in a back bedroom when Corker walked in saying “front door’s open, there might be someone in the house,” according to the warrant. “They said that about a minute and a half later, they heard one gunshot and that Corker came back to the room saying, I’m shot, I’m shot,” and ran next door.

Police saw what appeared to be a single bullet hole in the north wall of the living room. Police searched the apartment about 7:15 a.m. but did not seize any items.

…..and people wonder why the cops can get fed up with dealing with some elements of the public, “… the victim was not cooperating with investigators.” Open to specualtion here, a love gone wrong or a drug deal gone wrong?

There is no question that dealing with the public can at times be very difficult., and as you know when that happens a LEO is judged on his/her ability to do just that. At times it takes tremendous restraint, and at times it takes risking ones life just to make sure you did the right thing. The pay is good, the retirement isn’t that bad, but the most important thing is how are you perceived when you are gone!

Could’ve been an LEO that shot the victim and that is why the victim isn’t cooperating with investigators???

BSZ, As you know you can’t leave them all smiling.

just connecting the dots…… anyone picking up on the biker war vibe? Mongols patched a bunch of people in and built an army, fought the Angels downtown a few weeks back, body in the trunk of a burned out car, motorcyclist “committed suicide” just west of town, man shot when he opened the door of his house. Total speculation but it makes since to me.

You never expect them to leave smiling, just hope they leave understanding!

Cops didn’t shoot this time. There would have been atleast three holes. Just Kiddin! If you live on the dark side,You are gonna die on the dark side. These idiots doing these things make it dangerous for us to call for help.We the people of the United States need to let the foreigners kill each other and we the people of Spokane need to let the idiots kill each other too. Cheaper than paying to house them in a new jail and safer for our few GOOD police officers and public too.
BTW: no need for the victim to cooperate. Our crack prosecutors office can smell the scent of blood in the water.Just ask Judge Eitzen :^( If that doesn’t work they will just change the dates to something that will.

The article has been updated with details. The earlier information was from a PIO; the info now is directly from investigators.

Crackheads shoot once and run.. Those of use that are trained shoot COM(center of mass) till you hit the dirt. The scum around here had better keep that in mind.

calimari was complaining that the “victim” was not co-operating with the police; which is his right. No one has to co-operate with the police, neither victim nor suspect. We all have the “right to remain silent”.

Dummy up, at least until you lawyer up!

    Just sayin’…

How can a “next door neighborhood” tell the police anything?
