April going down as one of the coolest

Spokane officially set a new record on Sunday for the latest date of the year to reach 60 degrees or warmer. The high temperature on Sunday was 63 at Spokane International Airport, the first day of the year to reach 60 or higher. The entire month is also the second-coolest April since records started in 1881. So far, the average temperature has been 41 degrees, which is shy of the 40.6 degrees in 1955. An incoming weather system is expected to bring a 100 percent chance of showers later today and tonight. Winds may kick up as well. Gusts from the south of up to 24 mph are expected. Cooler weather is expected throughout the week with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the 30s. A chance of showers is in the forecast each day with snow possible on Thursday night and Friday. At 7 a.m., it was 38 at the Spokane airport, 43 at Felts Field, 41 in Coeur d’Alene and 40 in Deer Park.
