Area roundup: WSU takes 2 vs. Ohio St. in rowing

The 17th-ranked Washington State women’s rowing team won two of four races Sunday against 11th-ranked Ohio State in a dual regatta at Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio.

The Cougars’ varsity eight boat earned its second victory of the weekend, finishing 1.4 seconds ahead of the Buckeyes.

The Cougars’ novice eight boat also won its second consecutive race.

WSU’s varsity four and second varsity eight came in second.

Golf

Idaho finished second behind host Purdue at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The Vandals finished at 889, 12 strokes back of the Boilermakers.

Idaho’s Jarred Bossio and Damian Telles tied for sixth place at 4-over 220. Stefan Richardson tied for eighth at 221, Zach Wanderscheid tied for 20th at 228 and Justin Kadin tied for 44th at 237.
