Hyperbole doesn’t help

While I normally laugh off the monthly rants of local gadfly Pete Scobby, his latest letter (“Outlook bleak for seniors,” April 20) deserves attention. His usual poor attempts at hyperbole aside, I am of the opinion that he truly believes in his latest postulate that Republicans want senior citizens to die.

That’s pure hate speech. Our president has asked lawmakers and citizens to come together in bipartisan cooperation to solve the nation’s issues, and statements like this are part of the problem, not the solution.
