In brief: Auction will benefit PJALS

WEST HILLS – The Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane will host its annual spring benefit auction on May 14 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Auction items include weekend getaways, outdoor adventures, massage and bodywork packages, salon packages and jewelry.

In the Children’s Room, kids can enjoy movies, popcorn and games. Auction items for kids include gardening sets, poetry books, Silverwood tickets and electric scooters.

Tickets are $10 per person or $15 per couple. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets purchased by Friday will be entered in a special drawing.

Theater to honor namesake

RIVERSIDE – Advocates for the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave., will celebrate the late entertainer’s 108th birthday with a party Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m.

The community is invited to enjoy cake and punch and Crosby film clips shown in the theater at 6:30 p.m. At 7, attendees will have the opportunity to see “The Country Girl,” for which Bing Crosby was nominated for an Academy Award and co-star Grace Kelly won an Oscar.

Eagles hosting ‘Oz’ on ice

NEVADA/ LIDGERWOOD – The Lilac City Figure Skating Club will perform “Wizard of Oz, The Whole Story,” Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. at Eagles Ice Arena, 6321 N. Addison St.

More than 50 young skaters will perform the tale on ice, beginning with the good witch and the bad witch meeting in their college years.
